Judy Kramer, Chair
Program Manager, 10,000 Degrees Academic Support
Judy joined the Buckelew board in June 2015. She manages 10,000 Degrees Academic Support, a nonprofit program whose volunteers work with struggling students at Title I schools throughout Marin County. Previously she ran Experience Corps Marin, a nonprofit focused on early literacy. When one of her volunteers introduced Judy to Buckelew, she was most impressed by the breadth of its services and its longevity.
Judy knows how important it is to provide a continuum of care and support from her experience of alcoholism, depression and bi-polar disorder within her own family.
Judy previously spent two decades at Bank of America in positions focused on large corporate clients. She has long been an active volunteer and leader with a number of Bay Area nonprofits. Judy has a BA from Harvard University and an MBA from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business.
Scott Maclise, Vice Chair
LPL Financial Wealth Advisor (retired)
Scott Maclise joined the Buckelew Board of Directors in January 2014. He is a self-employed investment advisor/wealth manager with over 35 years of experience in the field of finance. Buckelew’s mission is close to Scott’s heart because of his own personal family experience with mental illness and addiction, and he is passionate about speaking out against stigma.
Scott has lived or worked in Marin for over 55 years. He enjoys golf, hiking, camping and travel.
Richard Jensen, Treasurer
Business Management Consultant
Richard Jensen joined Buckelew’s Board of Directors in December 2018. He retired after working in the financial services industry for over 40 years. Before joining Wells Fargo, he worked for Bank of America and American Express. He is now a Business Management Consultant to nonprofits in Marin County, providing strategic and marketing planning advice with a focus on goal formation, fundraising, board governance and financial control.
Richard received his BA in Economics and MBA in General Management from Golden Gate University in San Francisco and serves on a variety of nonprofit boards.
Mary Bihr, Secretary
Vice President, Global Publishing, LucasArts, a division of Lucasfilm (retired)
Mary Bihr joined Buckelew’s Board of Directors in March 2018. In her prior career as a business executive, Mary oversaw worldwide sales and marketing for a division of Lucasfilm. For over 20 years, she worked to establish the Star Wars and Indiana Jones brands in interactive entertainment.
Her journey from commercial enterprises to Buckelew is a personal one, having lived through the struggle and tragedy of a family member who suffered from mental illness. Buckelew was a beacon during those dark times. Mary now serves on charitable boards and focuses on causes that provide hope and support for individuals and for families.
Lydia Arellano, Board Member
Health Care Advocate
Lydia Arellano joined the Buckelew board in June of 2022. Lydia was born and raised in Cuba and came to live to the United States as a teenager. Her past careers include Advertising Art Director and Footwear Design. In 2009 Lydia changed careers to healthcare, following her desire to give back to her community.
Her late husband was a long-term Marin County Mental Health administrator, a firm and relentless advocate for the dignity and respect for all mental health clients. He was a strong believer in the Buckelew mission. Through their lengthy marriage he shared this passion with Lydia and they both understood the stress factors that weigh on mental health professionals. Lydia is inspired by the selfless dedication these professionals bring to an organization such as Buckelew.
As a Buckelew trustee, she is committed to do her part in bringing dignity and respect to mental health clients and mental health professionals alike.”
Carol-Anne Chang, Board Member
Coach & Senior Advisor / U.S. Diplomat (retired)
Carol-Anne Chang joined the Buckelew Board of Directors in March 2023 and is thrilled to be supporting an organization that provides such an impressive range of services and continuum of care for our community. Carol-Anne is an executive leadership coach and senior advisor with global experience spanning a 27-year career in foreign affairs and public service with the U.S. Department of State and the Peace Corps.
Her interest in Buckelew’s mission is personal because of her own family’s experience with mental health struggles. She is passionate about reducing the stigma around mental health, and connecting people with the resources they need to live healthy and fulfilling lives.
As a senior diplomat, Carol-Anne led diplomatic negotiations with foreign governments and multilateral organizations, managed complex operations and programs, and specialized in talent management and organizational development. She served in a variety of policy and leadership positions in U.S. embassies in Asia and Africa and in Washington, D.C. headquarters before moving to Marin County in 2021.
From her experience leading large multi-cultural teams through crises and supporting a global workforce – as well as the challenges of raising resilient children as she and her spouse navigated new overseas and domestic postings and demanding careers – Carol-Anne is deeply passionate about promoting and developing leadership and individual, family, and organizational resilience in mission-driven organizations.
Carol-Anne retired from her diplomatic career in November 2022 to continue her work in coaching and organizational development, and to make a difference in her community.
Leslie Dixon, Board Member
Marketing and Product Management; Financial Services Industry (Retired)
Leslie joined the Buckelew Board of Directors in July, 2020. She retired in 2012 after working in the financial services industry in marketing and product management roles for over 30 years including Security Pacific Bank, Charles Schwab and Union Bank. Leslie’s interest in Buckelew’s mission is personal because of her own family’s experience with depression and anxiety. She is passionate about helping to reduce the stigma around these issues and working towards getting people connected to the services they need.
Leslie is an active volunteer and leader with a number of non-profits. She received her BA Political Economics from UC Berkeley and her MBA from Duke’s Fuqua School of Business. She is a native Californian and has lived in Marin for over 20 years. She has an adult daughter and enjoys skiing, swimming, tennis and hiking with her dog, Lucy along the trails of Marin.
Warren Dodge, Board Member
Vice President of Business Development, SiteLabs
Warren Dodge joined Buckelew in October of 2018. After a career helping build early stage companies in oncology, he retired from full-time work and now advises small and medium-sized companies on growth strategies. Prior to his 25 years in cancer, he worked in similar capacities in the graphic arts industry. The common theme is helping small companies get bigger. Warren has also invested in a couple of start-up businesses and provides support as needed.
Warren lives in Marin County, is the father of three daughters and spends his spare time as a new blogger, playing tennis, hiking, mountain biking and, most recently, in a new yoga practice.
Gracie Francisco, Board Member
Director of Institutional Advancement, 10,000 Degrees
Gracie joined the Buckelew board in April of 2021. She currently manages all institutional giving for 10,000 Degrees, the leading college success and scholarship organization in northern California.
She has been with 10,000 Degrees for over a decade, first as a student and then as a full-time staff member beginning in 2015. Gracie’s background includes preschool teaching, working as a childcare professional, and managing student-facing college access and success work for middle and high school campuses in the North Bay. She currently resides in Marin but resided in Sonoma County for many years prior.
Gracie has been a community volunteer working with nonprofits in the greater Bay Area. She has a long-standing passion for serving the community and was honored to join the Buckelew Board of Directors to support the crucial mental health work Buckelew is providing in our community. She is a strong supporter of accessible mental health care due to her own diagnoses, and those of her close family, friends, and students.
Brooke Igleheart Ross, Board Member
Director of Sales & Marketing, Azul Hospitality
Brooke Igleheart Ross grew up in Palm Springs, California before moving to San Luis Obispo to attend college. She transferred to the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising and graduated in San Francisco with a degree in Merchandise Marketing. While enrolled in school she started working in hotels and combined her passion for sales, marketing and hospitality, which has led her to a successful 20-year career. She is now the General Manager of Hotel Trio in Healdsburg and Director of Marketing for Stay Healdsburg (Healdsburg Tourism Improvement District).
She is also a Real Estate Agent at Healdsburg Artisan Sotheby’s. Brooke is a proud alumna of Athena House Residential Treatment Program.
She lives in Santa Rosa with her husband Rob and step-daughter Natalie. Brooke enjoys connecting, spending time with loved ones, volunteering for causes she is passionate about and is proud to be a member of the Board of Buckelew Programs.
JD Schramm, Board Member
Author, Speaker, Coach & Trainer
JD joined the Buckelew Board of Directors in February 2022. JD Schramm has a private practice as a communication coach, trainer, and speaker. He holds a faculty appointment at USC’s Annenberg School of Communication & Journalism. From 2007 to 2020 he created and led the communications curriculum at Stanford’s Graduate School of Business. He has spoken at TED and TEDx events and has coached scores of others to do the same.
His writing has appeared in the Washington Post, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Huffington Post, and HBR Online. A sought-out speaker and trainer, he’s worked with firms and groups including the Aspen Institute Presidential Fellows for Community College Excellence, Qualtrics, YPO, Facebook, Breakline, Jane Street Financial, GenenTech, Ciena, AQR Capital, Adams Street Partners, and Google. JD is an active member of the LGBTQ community, particularly focused on inclusion efforts within higher education and communities of worship. He’s an advocate for suicide prevention, foster care services, and HIV/AIDS research. JD holds his Ed.D. in higher education leadership from the University of Pennsylvania, his MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business, and his BFA in theater from Emporia State University in Kansas. He and his husband, Rev. Ken Daigle, make their home in San Francisco raising three very active children.
Jack Scott, Board Member
Faculty Member, College of Marin (retired)
Jack Scott teaches Fine Art at the College of Marin in Kentfield. His sister is dealing with a severe mental illness, so Jack’s interest in Buckelew is personal. Jack recently re-joined the Buckelew Board of Directors after a 10-month hiatus. He had previously served on the Board since 2005.
His extensive knowledge of the art world has been put to good use with MarinScapes, an art exhibition and sale that benefits Buckelew Programs.
Rowan Smith, Board Member
Vice President of Internal Audit, Bank of Marin
Rowan Smith joined the Board of Directors in 2015. He currently serves as the Vice President of Internal Audit at Bank of Marin. Previously, he served for many years as a consultant to companies in the financial services and high tech industries. He holds a Master of Public Policy degree from the Kennedy School at Harvard University with an emphasis in Technology and Social Policy.
Rowan has had a life-long dedication to reducing the stigma of mental illness and increasing both public awareness and support for treating it. His younger sister has battled the disease and related problems since childhood, and his brother succumbed to the interrelated and debilitating effects of major depression and substance abuse.
Karen Wilson, Board Member
Executive Director, WildCare (retired)
Karen joined Buckelew’s Board of Directors in January 2021. She attended university at Boston College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. She began her career in the advertising industry, but after moving to Northern California continued her education at the University of San Francisco where she earned a Master’s Degree in Business.
Using her marketing and business skills for a cause in which she believed, she joined the California Coastal Commission as its statewide Adopt-A-Beach and Coastal Cleanup Day Program Manager. This led to her next position as Development Director for the California State Parks Foundation and then to WildCare as the organization’s Executive Director. Karen considers herself extremely fortunate to have made the transition to the environmental/conservation fields. She is able to couple her business skills and passion for the environment to create positive and sustainable change for California’s State Parks and beaches, wildlife and its habitats. Karen lives in Fairfax with her husband Todd and rescue dog Wally. Hiking, wildlife watching, travel and spending time with friends and family are just a few of the activities she enjoys. She is proud and honored to serve on Buckelew’s Board of Directors.
