Casa Rene Now Open
On February 3rd, Buckelew's newest residential home, Casa Rene, opened its doors
after 2 years of careful planning and construction. This beautiful brand new home
was made possible through funding from the Mental Health Services Act, County of
Marin, Marin Community Foundation, Tamalpais Pacific Foundation and The Michelson
Family Foundation.
At Casa Rene, those in need of short term residential mental health services find
a calm and comforting place to get well, with counseling, medication support
and therapeutic activities such as creative arts, music and movement. Caring and
professional staff, lots of natural light and soft, warm colors make Casa Rene
the kind of place that promotes healing and wellness. Casa Rene was named
for the late Rene Mendez-Penate, a tireless advocate for high quality mental health
services in Marin County. For more information, call (415) 457-6964.

Spotlight On Older Adults: Family Service Agency's AgeSong Program
Men and women age 65 and older wishing to explore life's "third act" are invited
to join AgeSong Marin's discussion groups. Participants sign up for a group series
consisting of about eight people (and two facilitators), which meet during the
day for 90 minutes once weekly over eight weeks.
Experienced leaders help navigate such topics as: important connections, loss
and change, end of life issues, truth, and wisdom. By sharing stories, laughing
at our foibles, and reflecting on our lives, participants discover a sense of community
and new opportunities for joy.
For more information, call (415) 491-5726 or go to

"AgeSong Marin was very instrumental in helping me to find out who I am. I'm on a path that brings me happiness, joy and purpose." Sheila,
age 75.
