Real People, Real Recovery
Meet Sylvie, Athena House alumna & director

“I’m here today because Athena House saved my life,” says Sylvie De La Cruz, director of Athena House and Hope Village. Twenty-five years ago, trapped in a cycle of trauma and hopelessness, Sylvie struggled with suicidal thoughts, substance use, and run-ins with the law. Then she was offered a choice: prison or Athena House. It changed her life forever. Today, Sylvie shares her story of recovery and hope with every woman who enters Athena House, reminding them they too are worthy of a bright future.
