Board Chair
JD Schramm joined the Buckelew Board of Directors in 2022 as a longtime advocate for mental health services and breaking the collective silence surrounding suicide, depression, and addiction. Notably, JD broke his own silence when he presented a 2011 TED Talk about his struggle with depression and drug use. Today, JD also volunteers as a Crisis Text Line counselor and is writing a book about his journey.
As the founder of JD Schramm Communications, JD works as a keynote speaker, communication consultant, and trainer. He is also a lecturer at USC’s Annenberg School of Communication & Journalism and adjunct associate professor at the NYU Stern School of Business. He previously created and led the communications curriculum at Stanford’s Graduate School of Business. JD also authored the book “Communicate with Mastery.”
JD is an active member of the LGBTQ community, particularly focused on inclusion efforts within higher education and communities of worship. He and his husband, Rev. Ken Daigle, live in Marin County raising three very active children.
