Buckelew has been instrumental in developing and coordinating inRESPONSE, Santa Rosa’s innovative mobile mental health support team that launched in 2022. inRESPONSE is dispatched to non-emergency situations where mental health is the primary concern––delivering vital care while diverting calls from police and fire. The team includes a licensed mental health clinician, paramedic, homeless outreach specialist, and a Buckelew service navigator. Together, they provide on-scene evaluation, de-escalation, support, and referrals to wrap-around services.
The team led by Program Director KT Swan of Buckelew earned the Center for Volunteer & Nonprofit Leadership’s Heart of Sonoma County Award for “Excellence in Innovation” in 2025.

That’s when Brenda called inRESPONSE for support.
4,759 calls answered by inRESPONSE
of those calls were diverted from law enforcement, reducing police involvement in mental health and homelessness-related situations.
