Mary Jane Burke began her career in education in Marin County. She held a wide variety of positions, including Instructional Assistant in Special Education, Teacher, Principal, Special Education Director, Assistant Superintendent, and Deputy Superintendent. In 1994, Mary Jane was elected to serve as the Marin County Superintendent of Schools and served for 28 years in that role.

Mary Jane believes in the importance of providing equitable educational opportunities for ALL children from birth to adulthood. She believes that doing so requires strong partnerships with businesses, local government, law enforcement, and community organizations.

Mary Jane is proud of her work developing community partnerships that improve programs and services related to safety, wellness, special education, early childhood education, college and career readiness and developing our teacher workforce. She currently sits on several boards of trustees including Dominican University of California, Dominican Sisters Charitable Trust, WestEd, EdSource, The Civics Center, Brewster West Foundation, the IBIS Group, and is a Consultant and Advisory Board Member to the UCSF Dyslexia Center’s Multitudes Project.

Scott Maclise joined the Buckelew Board of Directors in 2014. He is a self-employed investment advisor/wealth manager with over 35 years of experience in finance. Buckelew’s mission is close to Scott’s heart because of his own personal family experience with mental illness and addiction, and he is passionate about speaking out against stigma.

Scott has lived and worked in Marin for over 55 years. He enjoys golf, hiking, camping, and travel.

Dennis has over three decades of experience as a financial executive / CFO in the venture capital, private equity, investment and real estate industries. A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in economics, Dennis also has an MBA from Santa Clara University. In addition to his nine year tenure on the board of Buckelew Programs, including two years as board president, he has fifteen years of board leadership experience with several other significant Bay Area nonprofits. Dennis brings significant leadership, governance and fundraising experience to the Advisory Council.

Linda Tavaszi joined the Buckelew Board of Directors in 2024. With a distinguished career in healthcare leadership, Linda has dedicated her life to supporting the less fortunate and helping community organizations thrive. Linda is perhaps best known as the former CEO of Marin Community Clinics, which she transformed into the key healthcare safety net for Marin County’s low-income population.

Her extensive career includes leadership roles as COO of Marin General Hospital, CEO of Kentfield Rehabilitation Hospital, and the Ritter Center’s executive director. She also led an American-owned hospital in Spain, co-founded the Bank of Marin, and has a background in clinical social work. Recognized for her impact, Linda was inducted into the Marin Women’s Hall of Fame.

Born in Brooklyn and raised in the Bronx, Linda moved to California in the late 1960s with her husband. A longtime Marin County resident, she now lives in the East Bay.
