Regional Director of Substance Use Services, Sonoma County

Sylvie has been in the treatment and recovery field for more than 20 years. She is a leading advocate for social justice and equality in Sonoma County, with a focus on eliminating the stigma surrounding substance use disorders and empowering the women in her community. Her passion and dedication to expanding opportunities for individuals and families have earned her statewide recognition, including the Champion of Human Rights award from Sonoma County’s Commission on Human Rights.

Sylvie joined Buckelew Programs in September of 2022, leading the reopening of Athena House and continuing operations at the Hope Village sober living campus after both programs were closed by their former operator, California Human Development (CHD). She is passionate about integrating mental health services with substance use treatment and the expanded impact this can have on the community.

Prior to joining Buckelew, Sylvie served as SUD Division Director and was responsible for the oversight and operations of Athena House, Hope Village, and outpatient treatment with CHD.  She has developed six different sober living houses for women and women with children. Sylvie and her team have assisted more than 1200 women in changing their lives, reuniting with their children, obtaining employment, and finding fulfilling lives with hope for a better future.

As an alumna of Athena House, Sylvie understands firsthand the
need for women to heal from trauma. She has implemented several evidence-based programs that focus on the mind, body, and spirit of every woman who walks through the doors.
