JD Schramm

Board Chair

JD Schramm joined the Buckelew Board of Directors in 2022 as a longtime advocate for mental health services and breaking the collective silence surrounding suicide, depression, and addiction. Notably, JD broke his own silence when he presented a 2011 TED Talk about his struggle with depression and drug use. Today, JD also volunteers as a Crisis Text Line counselor and is writing a book about his journey.

As the founder of JD Schramm Communications, JD works as a keynote speaker, communication consultant, and trainer. He is also a lecturer at USC’s Annenberg School of Communication & Journalism and adjunct associate professor at the NYU Stern School of Business. He previously created and led the communications curriculum at Stanford’s Graduate School of Business. JD also authored the book “Communicate with Mastery.”

JD is an active member of the LGBTQ community, particularly focused on inclusion efforts within higher education and communities of worship. He and his husband, Rev. Ken Daigle, live in Marin County raising three very active children.

Carol-Anne Chang joined the Buckelew Board of Directors in 2023 and is thrilled support an organization providing an impressive range of services and continuum of care. She is an executive leadership coach and senior advisor with global experience, following a 27-year career in foreign affairs and public service with the U.S. Department of State and the Peace Corps.

Carol-Anne’s connection to Buckelew’s mission is personal, shaped by her own family’s experience with mental health challenges. Passionate about reducing stigma and expanding access to care, she is dedicated to helping people find the resources they need to live healthy, fulfilling lives.

As a senior diplomat, Carol-Anne led negotiations with foreign governments and multilateral organizations, managed complex operations, and specialized in talent management and organizational development. She served in policy and leadership positions in U.S. embassies in Asia, Africa, and Washington, D.C., before moving to Marin County in 2021. Carol-Anne retired from her diplomatic career in 2022 to focus on coaching organizational development and making a meaningful impact in her community.

Stan Moore, a retired attorney, served on the Buckelew Board of Directors from 2010 to 2019 and rejoined in 2023. He is delighted to return, feeling deeply connected to Buckelew’s mission to support clients, their families, and the broader community. Stan believes Buckelew’s breadth of programs and geographical reach make it a complex organization, requiring sophisticated management and an effective board. He also serves other local nonprofits.

Before retiring, Stan spent more than 24 years at AT&T and worked with several startups, focusing primarily on regulatory and corporate matters.

A native of Indiana, he earned his BA from Indiana University and his JD from Columbia Law School. He and his wife have lived in Marin County for over 30 years and have a daughter and grandson. In his free time, Stan enjoys sailing, hiking, and exploring information technologies.

Mary Bihr joined the Buckelew Board of Directors in 2018. In her prior career as a business executive, Mary oversaw worldwide sales and marketing for a division of Lucasfilm. For over 20 years, she worked to establish the Star Wars and Indiana Jones brands in interactive entertainment.

Her journey from commercial enterprises to Buckelew is a personal one, having lived through the struggle and tragedy of a family member with mental illness. Buckelew was a beacon during those dark times. Mary now serves on charitable boards and focuses on causes that provide hope and support for individuals and families.

Scott Maclise joined the Buckelew Board of Directors in 2014. He is a self-employed investment advisor/wealth manager with over 35 years of experience in finance. Buckelew’s mission is close to Scott’s heart because of his own personal family experience with mental illness and addiction, and he is passionate about speaking out against stigma.

Scott has lived and worked in Marin for over 55 years. He enjoys golf, hiking, camping, and travel.

Lydia Arellano

Board Member

Lydia Arellano joined the Buckelew Board of Directors in 2022 and is passionate about bringing dignity and respect to mental health clients and the professionals who support them.

Her late husband was a long-term Marin County Mental Health administrator, a firm and relentless advocate for the dignity and respect for all mental health clients. He was a strong believer in the Buckelew mission. Through their lengthy marriage he shared this passion with Lydia and they both understood the stress factors that weigh on mental health professionals. Lydia is inspired by the selfless dedication these professionals bring to an organization such as Buckelew.

As a Buckelew trustee, she is committed to do her part in bringing dignity and respect to mental health clients and mental health professionals alike.”

Leslie Dixon

Leslie Dixon

Leslie Dixon joined the Buckelew Board of Directors in 2020, driven by a personal connection to its mission through her family’s experience with depression and anxiety. She is passionate about reducing the stigma surrounding mental health and helping people access the services they need.

Before retiring in 2012 from her career in the financial services industry, Leslie spent over 30 years in marketing and product management roles with institutions such as Security Pacific Bank, Charles Schwab, and Union Bank.

An active volunteer and nonprofit leader, she holds a BA in Political Economics from UC Berkeley and an MBA from Duke’s Fuqua School of Business. A native Californian, Leslie has lived in Marin for over 20 years. She has an adult daughter and enjoys skiing, swimming, tennis, and hiking Marin’s trails.

Warren Dodge

Warren Dodge joined the Buckelew Board of Directors in 2018. After a career helping build early-stage companies in oncology, he retired from full-time work and now advises small and medium-sized companies on growth strategies.

Before his 25 years in oncology, he worked in similar capacities in the graphic arts industry. The common theme is helping small companies get bigger. Warren has also invested in start-up businesses and provides support as needed.

Warren lives in Marin County, is the father of three daughters, and spends his spare time as a blogger, playing tennis, hiking, mountain biking, and practicing yoga.

Jaime Yan Faurot joined the Buckelew Board of Directors in 2023, bringing a wealth of mental health advocacy experience. Jaime has worked closely with and held leadership roles in Marin County programs and initiatives such as the Marin Health and Human Services Advisory Committee, Peer Outreach Committee, and Recovery Change Team.

The core of her work revolves around promoting cultural humility and advocating for the mental health needs of the unserved and underserved.

Jaime earned a Master of Hospitality Management from Thames Business College, London. In 2021, she received a Commendation from the Marin County Board of Supervisors for volunteer work as a BIPOC Peer and Community Advocate for over five years. She was also awarded in the Celebrating the Uncelebrated Ceremony for her service from the Behavioral Health and Recovery Services Team in Marin County in 2019.

Gracie Francisco

Board Member

Gracie joined the Buckelew board in April of 2021. She currently manages all institutional giving for 10,000 Degrees, the leading college success and scholarship organization in northern California.

She has been with 10,000 Degrees for over a decade, first as a student and then as a full-time staff member beginning in 2015. Gracie’s background includes preschool teaching, working as a childcare professional, and managing student-facing college access and success work for middle and high school campuses in the North Bay. She currently resides in Marin but resided in Sonoma County for many years prior.

Gracie has been a community volunteer working with nonprofits in the greater Bay Area. She has a long-standing passion for serving the community and was honored to join the Buckelew Board of Directors to support the crucial mental health work Buckelew is providing in our community. She is a strong supporter of accessible mental health care due to her own diagnoses, and those of her close family, friends, and students.
