We are grateful to the Alexander M. and June L. Maisin Foundation for generously granting $20,000 to Buckelew Programs. These funds provide much needed general operating support for our mission to enhance the quality of life for individuals and families by promoting recovery, resilience, and hope through delivering a continuum of safety-net services for nearly 10,000 people each year in Marin, Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino, and Lake counties.
While restricted donations are always appreciated, general operating funds, like those granted by the Maisin Foundation, afford the flexibility to allow us to be both responsive and proactive, utilizing funds where they are needed most at the moment they are required. For example, this year one of the biggest issues we need to tackle is the high cost of living for our low-income clients in the tough Bay Area housing market.
With the impacts of Covid-19, the needs are even greater. Because of unrestricted donations, we are able to shift the funds where they are needed most—such as covering rent, medical and safety supplies, or food and staples—ensuring our clients have what they need to continue their road to recovery.
Considering a gift to Buckelew Programs? Feel free to talk to us about how an unrestricted donation will be put to work in our communities.
